Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Police Seeking Pickup Driver in Fatal Shooting
Police were seeking the driver of a late model pickup truck Tuesday in connection with the shooting of a 23-year-old man who was killed as he bent over to tie his shoelace on a street corner.
Paul Bryant Miller was shot in the chest at about 7:45 p.m. Monday by the driver or passenger of a Nissan or Toyota truck, according to Santa Ana police spokeswoman Maureen Thomas. Miller died a short time later at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center.
Police have no suspects or motive in the apparently random shooting at 2400 W. Russell Ave., Thomas said. The weapon was a handgun of unknown caliber.
“We are looking into the possibility that it might be gang-related,” she said. “We have no idea why Miller was shot.”
Miller lived in a nearby mobile home park. No further information was available.
