Ralph C. Joynes, president and chief operating officer of USG Corp., plans to take early retirement but did not specify a date. USG Chairman Robert J. Day will retire on normal schedule in May, 1990. As part of an orderly plan of succession for management, two senior management executives have been given new responsibilities.
Eugene B. Connolly, executive vice president, will be given new responsibilities that include a number of staff departments including legal, planning, government affairs, regulatory matters and the research and development center. He will be relinquishing his responsibilities as president and chief executive of USG Interiors and DAP Inc.
Anthony J. Falvo, executive vice president, will have new responsibilities including oversight of all operating units of United States Gypsum Co., USG Interiors, CGC Inc., L&W; Supply Corp. and DAP Inc. He will be relinquishing his responsibilities as president and chief executive of United States Gypsum Co.
USG is a building materials company with headquarters in Chicago.
