Pilots Petition Court: The Air Line Pilots Assn. petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court for a review of Eastern Airlines’ decision last fall to lay off about 4,000 employees and cut back service. The pilots union said its petition “will have implications for all Eastern asset transfers,” including the pending sale of the airline’s Northeast shuttle service to developer Donald J. Trump. An Eastern spokesman said the airline would have no comment on the petition because officials had not seen the documents. Separately, leaders of the union representing flight attendants at Eastern voted unanimously to ask members to honor a strike by Machinists against the company that could begin March 4.
