LOCAL : Huntington Beach Woman Killed

A 56-year-old woman was killed by a hit-and-run driver this morning as she walked her dog near her Huntington Beach home. Police Lt. Phil Mamelli said Velma McCoure was struck by a car traveling east on Ashland Drive, west of Arrow Lane, at 7:14 a.m. The incident occurred inside a private condominium complex where McCoure lived. The driver fled after the accident. McCoure died at the scene, Mamelli said. Police do not have a description of the car or driver, he said. Police asked anyone with information in the case to call (714) 960-8811.
