Tish Johnson Sets LPBT Record
Tish Johnson of Panorama City set a Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour nine-game record Sunday to take a 121-pin lead over Paula Drake of Broken Arrow, Okla., after one round of the $30,000 San Dimas tournament.
Johnson averaged 245, including a 298 game and a three-game series of 804, en route to a record total of 2,205 pins, breaking by one pin the LPBT record set by Karen Ellingsworth in 1986.
Johnson, a 26-year-old left-hander, is trying for her sixth career title. Drake, bidding for her first title, finished at 2,084.
Anne Marie Pike of Anaheim, who started the tournament with a 296 game, was third at 2,055 followed by Dana Miller-Mackie of Sydney, Australia, at 2,050 and Dede Davidson of Southgate, Mich., at 2,036.
Aleta Sill of Dearborn, Mich., was sixth at 2,032.
