Cypress Captures Title of Softball Tournament
Cypress College used three home runs to defeat Riverside, 11-2, Sunday in the championship game of the Cypress softball tournament at Arnold Park.
It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Chargers (9-2).
With Cypress leading, 1-0, in the bottom of the second ining, Rosa Ferrante hit a grand slam for a 5-0 lead. Teresa Anderson and Karen Kuypers then hit back-to-back homers in the third to give the Chargers a 7-0 lead.
Colleen Moore (6-2) went four innings, striking out seven, for the victory. She did not allow a run.
