Rickey Henderson of New York Yankees says excessive drinking by some of his teammates hurt the club’s pennant chances last season.
“You would see them all drunk on the plane. You would see them out and they’re drunk,” Henderson told the Westchester (N.Y.) Gannett newspapers. “How can you perform the next day? Liquor does not leave you overnight.”
He did not identify any players.
