Lady Carroll Bing testified Wednesday in New York that a Metropolitan Opera production of Wagner’s “Parsifal” inspired her to write a poem, and she met Sir Rudolf Bing after going into his home for stationery to capture her thoughts. “I popped into the Essex House,” Lady Carroll Douglass Bing, 49, testified at her marriage annulment trial in state Supreme Court. Bing’s attorney, Paul Guth is seeking the annulment, contending that his client, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was duped into the marriage in 1987 by a status-seeking woman.
