It was just another spring day for Jose Canseco on Wednesday: four traffic tickets and a home run.

The Oakland Athletics’ right fielder, ticketed for driving 120 m.p.h. near his home in Miami three weeks ago, was cited by Phoenix police early Wednesday for running a red light, not carrying his driver’s license or proof of insurance and using improper license plates on his 1989 red jaguar.

Canseco, 24, did not deny committing the infractions, but complained that police treated him and his wife rudely and that four officers in separate patrol cars detained him for more than an hour while they checked his record.

“I don’t want special treatment,” he said at the A’s training camp before hitting a long homer in an intrasquad game. “I just want to be treated like a human being.”

Canseco faces fines of $505, plus a mandatory court appearance for lack of insurance proof.
