Canyon, Katella, Valencia and Brea Advance to Girls’ Regional Playoffs
All four Orange County girls’ basketball teams that played in Southern Section championship games last week have advanced to the Southern California regional playoffs.
First-round games are Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
Canyon, Katella and Valencia high schools advanced to the Division II playoffs. And Brea-Olinda, which breezed to the Southern Section 3-A title, advanced to the Division III playoffs.
Brea (27-2), the top-seeded team, will play host to Our Lady of Peace (19-6) of the San Diego Section.
Canyon (22-5) will play at top-seeded Vista (26-3) in the Division II brackets. Canyon lost to Valencia, 56-45, in the Southern Section 4-AA final Thursday.
Katella (26-3), which won the school’s first Southern Section basketball title with a 54-48 overtime victory over Muir in the 4-A final Thursday, plays host to San Marcos of San Diego (26-3).
Valencia (20-9) plays host to Mt. Whitney of Visalia (23-2).
