Community College Roundup : Jacobs’ 4-Hitter Leads Fullerton Past Cypress in Softball
Kristin Jacobs pitched a four-hitter and Fullerton College defeated Cypress, 2-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Friday at Fullerton.
The victory gives the Hornets (13-5-1, 3-0) sole possession of first place. Cypress in 2-1 in conference play.
Jacobs (11-5) struck out six and walked one.
Fullerton took the lead in the fourth as Stephanie Fleischaker drove in two runs with a bases-loaded double.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Orange Coast 8, Cerritos 1--John Gabriel defeated Chung Luen, 6-0, 6-1, to lead the Pirates (8-1) at Orange Coast.
In Orange Empire Conference women’s tennis:
Saddleback 9, Rancho Santiago 0--Cindy Hamnquist defeated Teri Eggers, 6-0, 5-7, 6-3, for the Gauchos (6-1, 2-1) at home.
In Orange Empire Conference men’s track and field:
Saddleback 105, Golden West 35--Brian McCleery won the high jump (7 feet 1/4 inch), Steve Duarte the shotput (53-0) and Robert Vasquez the javelin (200-2) to lead the Gauchos at home.
