The Local : Pipe Bomb Explodes in Anaheim
A pipe bomb exploded inside an Anaheim mailbox early this morning--the fourth incident involving pipe bombs in Orange County this week.
The explosion occurred about midnight near an apartment complex in the 1900 block of South Haster Street, Anaheim Police Lt. John Haradon said. No one was injured.
The bomb blew a hole in one side of the mailbox, damaging some of the 50 pieces of mail inside, officials said. The Orange County Sheriff’s Department hazardous devices squad, Anaheim police and U.S. Postal Service inspectors are investigating.
On Tuesday, a 14-year-old Esperanza High School student was arrested after authorities found a pipe bomb with a remote control detonating device above a dining area at the Anaheim school.
