The State : Campus Bans 2 Fraternities
Alleged drug-dealing has resulted in two fraternities being banned from the Cal State Chico campus. The school withdrew recognition of Lambda Pi fraternity after the arrest in December of the organization’s alumni president and several student members, who are accused of selling drugs in the fraternity house. Also, Sigma Nu fraternity was suspended for a year after the drug sweep in which about 20 current or recent CSUC students were arrested on suspicion of selling cocaine and marijuana. Sigma Nu President Shawn Williamson said the fraternity was cooperating with university officials to regain official recognition on the 15,000-student campus. A spokesman for Lambda Pi could not be reached for comment.
