No. 1 Saddleback Wins Tennis Showdown

Saddleback College, the top-ranked team in the state, defeated Orange Coast, the third-ranked team, 6-3, in an Orange Empire Conference men’s tennis match Thursday at OCC.

Saddleback (5-0 in conference) won five of six singles matches to clinch the victory before doubles play: Carl Hinds won at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Ed Peregrino won at No. 2, 6-3, 7-5, Jamil Atacha won at No. 3, 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, Gavin Fenske won at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1, and Stan Sanders won at No. 6, 6-3, 6-2.

Hinds and Saunders won at No. 2 doubles, 4-6, 7-5, 6-3. OCC is 4-1 in conference play.
