Local News in Brief : Armored Car Bandit Takes Cash, Gun
A robber held up an armored car guard Friday inside a San Fernando Valley supermarket, escaping with a bag of cash and the guard’s gun, police said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The robber, armed with a stainless steel revolver, approached the Brink’s guard as he prepared to leave a Ralphs supermarket on Ventura Boulevard in Encino about 10 a.m., Sgt. J. J. Thompson said.
After taking the guard’s bag of money and his gun, the robber ran into the parking lot, climbed into a small white car and sped away.
Three Armored Transport of California guards have been killed in a yearlong string of armed holdups, the most recent of which occurred March 17.
