Southland Track Meets Draw Top Valley Athletes

Morgan Bateman of Crescenta Valley High and Cindy Byrne of Canyon will be two of the Valley-area’s leading entrants in the Pasadena Games, which begin at 5:05 p.m. today at Occidental College.

Bateman, the defending Southern Section 4-A Division champion in the boys’ 800, is entered in that event. Byrne, the defending 4-A champion in the girls’ 300-meter low hurdles, has entered her specialty.

In another meet, Angela Burnham of Rio Mesa and Bryan Dameworth of Agoura will run in the Santa Barbara Easter Relays at Santa Barbara City College.

Burnham, the defending state champion in the 100 and 200, is scheduled to run in the open 100 and two or three relays. Dameworth, the two-time defending state cross-country champion, has entered the open 3,200 and also will run in the distance medley relay.
