WORLD : Japanese FSX Deal Uncertain: Bush
President Bush admitted today that the controversial agreement with Japan for joint production of the FSX fighter plane is still “going back and forth a little.”
Sources said the plan is stalled over nailing down who owns the technology for the project and how much of the plane should be built in the United States.
“What I want to know is that the agreement is clear,” Bush said. “There’s no point in having an unclear agreement. We have a lot at stake here.”
The President also said that the two sides are continuing to talk and that he does not know whether a Friday deadline set by Japan in accordance with the requirements of its fiscal calendar will be met.
