Atlanta Braves right-hander Bruce Sutter, who has undergone three operations on his right rotator cuff, has suffered another tear in it that may end his career.
Sutter left the Braves’ spring training camp Sunday. Sutter, 36, missed nearly two seasons after undergoing surgery to the same shoulder. He underwent the operations on the shoulder between September 1985 and February 1987. He ranks third on the all-time major league save list with 300, behind Rollie Fingers (341) and Goose Gossage (302).
Sutter signed a six-year, $10.6 million contract in 1984 with the Braves.
