Local : Newport Man Killed on Motorcycle
A Newport Beach man was killed when the motorcycle he was riding on ran into a parked car.
Frederic M. Boom, 20, was riding on the back of a motorcycle driven by Arian Eskanderi, 19, of Irvine about 9:16 p.m. when the accident occurred. Newport Beach Police Officer Bob Oakley said the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when Eskanderi lost control near the intersection of Mariners Drive and Rutland Road.
Neither rider was wearing a helmet, Oakley said. Boom suffered major internal injuries and died at Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian. Eskanderi was admitted to Hoag with moderate injuries.
Oakley said Eskanderi will be held on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter when he is released from the hospital.
