Most Taxpayers Still Haven’t Filed Returns

WASHINGTON — Heading into the final three weeks of the tax preparation season, more than half of Americans still had not mailed their tax returns, the Internal Revenue Service reported Wednesday.
Through last Friday, the IRS had received 53.1 million returns, up 0.7% from the same period a year ago.
