Halford Resigns at Santa Ana for Job at Century
Bob Halford, boys’ athletic director at Santa Ana High School for 11 years, has resigned to accept a similar position at Century High.
Century High is scheduled to open in Santa Ana in the fall with 1,000 freshmen and sophomores. The school’s first graduating class will be in 1992.
Santa Ana has developed one of the county’s top football and basketball programs in the 1980s with Halford as athletic director. The Saints won the Southern Conference football title in 1985 and the basketball team advanced to the 4-A division semifinals in 1987.
