IN BRIEF : Divorce for Newlywed Testaverde
TAMPA, Fla. — Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Vinny Testaverde has filed for divorce from his wife of eight months and will seek a lump-sum alimony payment, according to court records.
A document filed Wednesday in the clerk’s office of the Hillsborough Circuit Court said the 1986 Heisman Trophy winner and his wife have been estranged since Jan. 26 when the marriage became “irretrievably broken.”
Testaverde met Laura Ann Gambucci in December, 1986, in Tempe, Ariz., when the University of Miami lost to Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl. He is entering the third season of a six-year, $8.2-million contract with the Bucs.
The 25-year-old quarterback requests a lump-sum alimony payment be a condition of the settlement. The court paper also stated that Testaverde and his wife have settled all claims against each other.
