IN BRIEF : 3 Ex-Sooners Deny Rape Charges
NORMAN, Okla. — Three former Oklahoma football players pleaded innocent today to charges of first-degree rape filed against them in an alleged sexual assault in the school’s athletic dormitory on Jan. 21.
District Judge Preston Trimble set a Sept. 11 trial date for Bernard Hall, Nigel Clay and Glen Bell, accused of the rape of a 20-year-old Oklahoma City woman. The three were suspended from the football team and from the university after they were charged in February in Cleveland County District Court. A judge ordered them bound over for trial after a four-day preliminary hearing last week.
