Orange : 2 Armed Teen-Agers Arrested in Car Theft
Two Los Angeles County youths were arrested Monday afternoon on the westbound Garden Grove Freeway near Golden West after they allegedly stole a car from the owner as he left an east Orange detail shop, police said.
The two 16-year-old males, armed with handguns, approached the owner of a 1986 IROC Chevrolet Camaro about 2 p.m. Monday as he was leaving Elite Auto Detailing at 704 W. Katella Ave. and demanded that he give them his car, said Sgt. Tim Brown of the Orange police.
The teens then fled in the car and headed for the westbound Garden Grove Freeway. Brown said authorities throughout the area were alerted to the theft.
The two were arrested without incident by a Garden Grove police officer after they were stopped along the freeway, Brown said.
The youths, who were booked on suspicion of robbery, were being held in Orange City Jail pending transfer to juvenile hall.
