Police said today a missing person’s report has been filed on Texas Rangers designated hitter Rick Leach, who did not show up for Monday night’s game against the Yankees.

Officials with the team said they still did not know where Leach was today.

“We’re very, very concerned,” said Rangers Manager Bobby Valentine after his team beat New York, 13-2. “He’s usually the first one at the ballpark.”

While a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, Leach, a former star quarterback at Michigan, disappeared from Aug. 25 to Aug. 27, 1987, after having an argument with his wife. A Rangers spokesman said that the club called Leach’s wife Monday night but that she did not know his whereabouts.
