Mona Van Duyn Wins Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize

CHICAGO — Mona Van Duyn, whose poetry seeks to reveal the deeper meanings of everyday events, was awarded the nation’s biggest annual poetry award Friday--the $25,000 Ruth Lilly Poetry Prize.
The award, established by Indianapolis philanthropist Ruth Lilly, is presented each year by the American Council for the Arts and the Modern Poetry Assn., publisher of Poetry magazine.
