Guy Sherman Paschal; Developed Airwick Air Freshener
Guy Sherman Paschal, 87, an inventor who developed the Airwick air freshener and produced a wide variety of other products. Paschal founded AirKem Co. in 1940 to market the Airwick product developed primarily in his New York City basement as an industrial disinfectant. Paschal was president of the company until he moved to Florida in 1943 and remained vice president for research and development until 1951. Paschal also developed a three-dimensional chess game, an automatic hen feeder for laying cages, a full line of food flavorings, a low-calorie sweetener, an oven cleaner and a portable toilet. In Oneco, Fla., on May 28 of a stroke.
