Israeli helicopter gunships strafed several positions of the radical Muslim Hezbollah militia in eastern Lebanon amid a growing number of guerrilla attacks in the Israeli border area, Lebanese police said. Four U.S.-made Cobra gunships fired rockets and machine guns at eight positions manned by the pro-Iranian Hezbollah (Party of God) near Israel’s self-declared security zone in southern Lebanon, police said. No casualties were reported. There was no immediate Israeli confirmation of the attack.
