O’Brien Named Building Chief
Veteran Los Angeles City Department of Building and Safety official Warren V. O’Brien was appointed general manager Tuesday by Mayor Tom Bradley. He succeeds Frank Kroeger, who retired in May.
O’Brien has been with the city department for 28 years, beginning as a civil engineering assistant and working his way up to executive officer, or assistant general manager.
He has served as chief of special projects division, chief of the management assistance division and chief of the building bureau.
Bradley noted that O’Brien had the highest score among 11 candidates for the department’s top job and “is exceptionally qualified to manage this department.”
The appointment must be approved by the City Council.
