Santa Fe Springs : Fuentes Elected Mayor; Sharp Is Mayor Pro Tem
The Santa Fe Springs City Council has elected Councilman Al Fuentes as mayor to lead the five-member council for the next year.
Fuentes, who was elected to the council in 1986, was elected at the May 25 meeting, Assistant City Manager Fred Latham said.
Fuentes is a former member of the Planning Commission and now serves on a variety of city and county commissions and committees, including the Social Services Advisory Committee, the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, the Southeast Area Animal Control Authority and the Southeast Social Services Funding Authority.
Councilman Albert L. Sharp, a former mayor who was elected to the council in 1982, was named mayor pro tem. He will preside over the council when Fuentes is absent.
