Radio Figure Gets 3 Years’ Probation
The former music director of radio station KUSC-FM was sentenced to three years’ probation Wednesday for molesting an 8-year-old girl while posing as a physician and pretending to examine her for an infection.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Clarence Stromwall imposed the sentence on David Jay Letterman, 40, who pleaded guilty Feb. 28 to one felony count of lewd conduct with a child under age 14.
Prosecutors said the molestation occurred in April, 1988, while Letterman was the music director of classical music radio station KUSC-FM, which is owned and operated by the University of Southern California.
Letterman sexually assaulted the neighborhood girl while posing as a doctor. The molestation occurred after he went to the victim’s house and asked her mother for permission to examine the child for an infection.
Letterman left the station some time after being charged in the case.
