The Attempt to Close Rock Music Clubs
The attempt to close rock music clubs is typical of the narrowness of certain sectors of the Los Angeles area (“Rock and a Hard Place” by Steve Hochman, June 12).
Rock music is one of the reasons Los Angeles is the entertainment center of the world. Unfortunately, some people object to anything that does not fall within their own narrow horizons.
The ultimate reason for the attacks on the clubs is that they represent an alternative to the mass-produced culture of the conforming media.
The people who frequent the alternative clubs do not want to fit into someone else’s confined world. I suggest that those who want to close Fender’s (music club in Long Beach) move to Barstow.
