Two Fountain Valley Assistants Resign
Assistant coaches Mike Henigan and Dave Penhall, who helped coach Fountain Valley High School to the Division I football championship last fall, resigned Friday.
Henigan retires after 25 years of coaching, including five seasons as the head coach at Marina High. He has been offensive line coach at Fountain Valley since 1980 and worked with linemen such as Duval Love, Brad Houchen, Brad Leggett and Lance Zeno.
Henigan will continue to teach health science at Fountain Valley and be boys’ athletic director at the school.
Penhall retires after 17 years as Fountain Valley’s quarterback coach. Among the top quarterbacks he coached were David Henigan, Gil Compton, Matt Stevens and Brett Stevens. Penhall will continue to teach English.
