Atlanta City Council President Marvin Arrington said he will appoint a negotiating committee to try to keep the Atlanta Braves from leaving downtown. Braves President Stan Kasten has confirmed that the National League team is negotiating for private financing for a new stadium and does not feel locked in to a downtown location. There has been talk of a new stadium in suburban Gwinnett County.
