CIF Administrator Davis Accepts College Position
Margaret Davis, administrator in the California Interscholastic Federation and Southern Section for 15 years, has been named an associate athletic director at Idaho State University.
Davis, associate commissioner of the CIF, will begin her new job July 10.
“I feel I have accomplished most of what I set out to do, and the opportunity at Idaho State offers me a chance to work and live in a new and exciting environment,” Davis said.
Davis is generally credited with organizing girls’ sports programs in the 1970s, when the programs made a successful transition from loosely organized Girls’ Athletic Assn. club sports to fully sanctioned programs in the Southern Section.
Davis began her coaching career at Poway High School, where she was girls’ basketball and softball coach and assistant athletic director. She joined the Southern Section in 1972 as an administrative assistant under Commissioner Kenneth Fagans.
“Margaret Davis has been an outstanding professional leader for interscholastic athletics and will be sorely missed,” said Tom Byrnes, CIF commissioner.
