NAMES IN THE NEWS : Rep. Udall, Congress Aide to Wed
WASHINGTON — Rep. Morris K. Udall (D-Ariz.) plans in August to marry Norma Gilbert, a staff member on a subcommittee of his Interior Committee, his office said today.
Udall, 67, and Gilbert, whose age was not disclosed, will be wed Aug. 6 at the Capitol by the Rev. James Ford., chaplain of the House. This will be her second marriage and Udall’s third. Both have grown children.
Udall, a 15-term lawmaker who recently spent 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital for treatment of Parkinson’s disease and pneumonia, told friends of the impending nuptials earlier this week at a fund-raiser for his 1990 congressional campaign, his office said.
Gilbert, formerly of Encino, Calif., was a lobbyist in Washington many years before joining the staff of the subcommittee on insular and international affairs.
