Musick to Coach at Santa Ana Valley
Herschel Musick said he will take over as Santa Ana Valley High School baseball coach for the third time since 1960.
Musick coached at Santa Ana Valley from 1960 to 1976 and again from 1982 to 1983. He retired from coaching in 1984 but returned the following season as an assistant to Bill Ross at Santa Ana.
Musick, a math teacher at Santa Ana Valley, replaces Bonifacio Contreras, who resigned at the end of the season.
Musick, 56, led Santa Ana Valley to seven league championships and coached Garry Templeton (1974) of the San Diego Padres and Gerald Young (1982) of the Houston Astros.
