Placentia : Bicyclist, 9, Critically Hurt After Hitting Car
A 9-year-old Placentia boy riding his bicycle was critically injured when he struck a passing car Tuesday, authorities said.
The boy, whose name was withheld, suffered major head injuries when he collided head-on with a Volkswagen about 7:40 a.m. in the 500 block of north Bradford Avenue, next to Valencia High School, Placentia Police Sgt. Jay Fricke said. The boy was riding south in the northbound lanes of Bradford when he struck the car, throwing him into the windshield. He was taken to United Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was listed in critical condition.
Fricke said the boy was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured, and he was not cited at the scene, Fricke said.
