West County : School District Awaits Views on Bond Election
The Los Alamitos Unified School District has formed a citizens advisory committee to study whether the district should conduct a bond election to raise money for school improvements.
If the committee approves, the election could be held in the spring of 1990, the district announced recently. The group, which has met several times already, will forward its recommendations to the Board of Trustees for a decision sometime in the fall.
The committee is composed of members of the Los Alamitos, Seal Beach and Rossmoor communities.
So far this year, the Capistrano Unified School District and the Westminster School District have held unsuccessful bond elections for school construction or school improvements. Such elections require a two-thirds majority vote for passage.
