Jones Wins 2 Titles in Youth Division of TAC Nationals
Marion Jones of Sherman Oaks, who broke the girls’ youth division national record in the 200 meters two weeks ago, won her specialty in 24.93 seconds Saturday in the youth division of The Athletic Congress National Championships in Arlington, Tex.
In addition, Jones, 13, won the 100 in 12.12.
In the boys’ competition, Woodland Hills’ Aqueel Rasheed, 13, won the 100 (11.24) and 200 (23.38) in the youth division (ages 12-13).
Adam Horst of Woodland Hills placed third in the boys’ midget division (ages 10-11) high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches and finished seventh in the pentathlon. A team from the West Valley Eagles placed fourth in the boys’ midget division 4x100 relay.
Aminah Haddad and Kelly Kaa, both of Woodland Hills, placed in the girls’ midget division. Haddad finished third in the 200 (26.68); Kaa was third in the high jump (4-5 1/2).
