Racing at Hollywood Park : Dominant Dancer Wins by 4
Dominant Dancer emerged as the top 2-year-old filly in the West Saturday by racing to an easy four-length victory in the $105,100 Landaluce Stakes at Hollywood Park.
Jockey Eddie Delahoussaye took the winner to the lead going into the turn, and the daughter of Moscow Ballet easily drew away from her opposition. The lightly regarded Cheval Volant came from sixth place to finish second, with Autumn Beauty third in the field of 11.
The favored Forest Fealty, after setting the pace, faded to seventh place.
It was the second stakes victory for Dominant Dancer, who last month won the Quickstep Stakes at Golden Gate Fields, but the Landaluce was her first try at six furlongs.
She covered the distance in 1:10 2/5 and, as the second choice of the crowd of 22,124, paid $6.40, $4.60 and $4.
Cheval Volant, ridden by Robbie Davis, paid $6.60 and $5.20; Autumn Beauty, ridden by Russell Baze, returned $14.60.
First place was worth $60,100 to the partnerhsip of Shannon Farar and David Schloss. In her three previous starts, with two wins, Dominant Dancer had earned $45,500.
