Choritzo Wins Feature Race at Hollypark
Choritzo, ridden by Patrick Valenzuela, set the pace and never relinquished its lead to win the $50,000 feature race by two lengths Monday at Hollywood Park.
Carmanetta, ridden by Chris McCarron, finished second, three-quarter lengths in front of Raintree Renegade in a field of six in the race for 4-year-olds and up.
Choritzo covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:41 3-5 and earned $27,500.
Choritzo paid $6.20, $4 and $2.40. Carmanetta returned $3.60 and $2.20, and Raintree Renegade returned $2.20.
Carrying 116 pounds, Choritzo set the pace from the start, maintaining a lead through the final furlong.
Raintree Renegade was never far back, getting close at the quarter mark, but unable to challenge.
