Man Killed, 4 Injured in Palmdale Collision
Apickup truck missed a stop sign in Palmdale and broadsided a car, killing a passenger in the pickup and injuring four other people, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reported today.
Charles Spencer, 36, of Palmdale was killed in the accident at Palmdale Boulevard and 40th Street East, Deputy Michael Rice said.
Rice said the pickup, driven by Teresa A. Carbaugh, 27, of Lancaster, was heading north on 40th Street at 3 a.m. Monday and did not stop at Palmdale Boulevard. The pickup struck a car driven west by Craig Haider, 19, of Las Vegas.
Carbaugh, Spencer and another passenger, Samantha Sandoval, 22, of Palmdale, were thrown from the pickup. Spencer was killed immediately, and Carbaugh and Sandoval were seriously hurt, Rice said. They were being treated at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center.
Haider and his passenger, Vicki Lowe, of Las Vegas, were trapped in their car and had to be cut out by firefighters. Rice said they were in serious condition at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center in Lancaster.
