‘World in Motion’
Randy Lewis, in his review of Jackson Browne’s “World in Motion” album (Calendar, June 4), reminds me of some of our politicians and citizens who believe in living with denial and ignorance.
Rock ‘n’ roll has always been in the forefront of social change. Thank goodness for Jackson Browne, Sting, Bob Dylan, Jim Morrison and many other musicians who have had the guts to tell the truth and deliver a message in their music.
Now, when all our problems are at a crisis level--homelessness, health care, pollution, the greenhouse effect, depletion of the rain forests, acid rain, toxic waste, etc.--it is still rock ‘n’ roll that is speaking out.
Without rock ‘n’ roll in my life, I would have gone nuts years ago. So I am proud that so many rock ‘n’ roll musicians have the courage and dignity to tell it like it is.
