The 31-member board of trustees of Newport Harbor Art Museum has approved a new slate of officers: Thomas H. Nielsen, president; Sonja Berggren, vice president/planning; James E. Henwood, vice president/development; Jay M. Young, vice president/art and education; Joan Frances Beall, secretary; Jerry Dauderman, treasurer; M. Rogue Hemley, past president; and David W. Carroll and David S. Tappan Jr., members at large.
New to the executive committee are Nielsen, vice chairman of the Irvine Co.; Berggren, a partner in the law firm of Latham & Watkins in Costa Mesa, and Beall, who is on the executive committee of the board of directors of the Orange County Performing Arts Center.
The following were appointed to the board of trustees: Charles Hester, president of Hester Development Co.; Linda Lau, founder and vice president of the Historical and Cultural Foundation of Orange County; Carl Neisser, business development manager of the Industrial League of Orange County and arts commissioner for the city of Newport Beach, and Thomas D. Peckenpaugh, chairman of the law firm of McKittrick, Jackson, Demarco and Peckenpaugh. Harriette Witner was named trustee emeritus in honor of her many years of service to the museum.
