LOCAL : Gangs Cited in Santa Ana Killing
In what Santa Ana police described today as another in a series of gang murders, two men approached a parked car and one opened fire with a handgun, killing a 16-year-old boy inside the car.
A police spokeswoman said the attack just before midnight Sunday occurred at the corner of Spruce and Willits streets, where a man, two women and the teen-ager were inside a parked car.
The spokeswoman said two men approached the car, an argument broke out and one of the men fired at least three times, striking the boy once in the chest. The boy died at the scene.
Police withheld the names of the victim, who they said lived in Orange, and others in the car. The investigation has been turned over to the gang investigations unit, the spokeswoman said.
