Westminster : Police Seek Pair Who Chased Alleged Robber
Westminster police are seeking the public’s help in locating two people in a van who may have been fired at by a man suspected of robbing a fast-food restaurant, a police spokesman said Monday.
“All we know is they have a white van and there may have been two people inside,” Sgt. Russell Silva said.
The van was flagged down by an employee of a Del Taco restaurant, 13731 Golden West St., which had been robbed by an armed man about 10:45 a.m. Monday, Silva said. No shots were fired in the restaurant.
The employee followed the alleged gunman, later identified as Kevin Lomack, 30, of San Diego, out of the restaurant and told the people in the van about the robbery.
The van chased Lomack, who ran about a block to a parked car. It continued to follow him after he drove off. Witnesses said Lomack fired a gun at the van several times.
When police responded and joined the pursuit, the van broke off the chase and left the area, Silva said.
“We’ve contacted area hospitals and turned up nothing. We hope they were not hurt but we would like to talk to them anyway,” Silva said.
Lomack was caught after he lost control of his car and hit a curb at Magnolia Street and the Garden Grove Freeway, Silva said. Police found nearby a .44-caliber revolver of a type that witnesses said was used in the robbery. Silva said an unknown sum of cash was recovered from Lomack’s car.
Lomack was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and taken to Orange County Jail.
