NATION : Stealth Bomber Taken Apart
WASHINGTON — The B-2 stealth bomber will be partially taken apart for inspection and analysis after its first successful test flight and should be ready to fly again within six weeks, the Pentagon said today.
The $532-million, radar-evading bomber successfully completed its flight Monday over the Mojave Desert in Southern California.
“What they will do now is the same thing they do on any test flight of an airplane; they will analyze the data,” Defense Department spokesman Pete Williams said.
“They will also partially take the plane apart and give it a thorough inspection and give it additional electronics and avionics tests. They will do that inside the hangar before that particular plane flies again,” Williams said.
