Dow Chemical Co. The Midland, Mich.-based company said profit rose 17% to $728 million in the second quarter. Revenue rose 8% to $4.6 billion. Dow reported increases in all business segments including chemicals, plastics, consumer specialties such as Ziploc plastic bags and performance products such as plastic-lined pipe and absorbent material for diapers.
