The Raiders have released two veterans to make room on the roster for rookies, including second-round draft choice Steve Wisniewski.

Veteran free-agent quarterback Mike Kelley was cut to make room for Wisniewski, and center George Lilja was dropped Friday.

Wisniewski, an offensive lineman from Penn State taken with the 29th pick, signed Saturday morning and participated in two practices after missing the first day of two-a-day workouts.

“I wasn’t much of a holdout,” Wisniewski said. “I ran my 40-yard test before camp, I went downtown to take my physical before I came here, and I was staying at the team hotel (in El Segundo).”

The Raiders began camp with only six draft choices, two of whom were sent to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for tests.

Wide receiver Gary Gooden of Indiana suffered a knee injury in practice Friday, while defensive lineman Charles Jackson from Jackson State has a nagging shoulder injury.
